Thysanoptera of Japan

Hydatothrips ekasi Kudo, 1992

This species was described from Honshu, Japan but is also known in Taiwan. It occurs on Indigofera pseudotinctoria and Kummerowia striata [Fabaceae] in Japan. In Honshu, H. abdominalis, which occurs on several Fabaceae, is also distributed but H. ekasi can be easily distinguished from H. abdominalis by the abdomen with two yellow segments (segments IV-V), whereas the abdomen with one yellow segment (segment V) in the latter species, even though by loupe.
